Iggy Azalea didn’t appear too happy about Playboi Carti giving fans the impression that he was “taking care” of his ex-girlfriend in the same interview where he praised her for being a good mother to their son Onyx.
The couple called it quits in late 2020 after Iggy said she had caught Carti cheating on her with another woman. But despite their bitter breakup, the exes have managed to remain on good terms for the sake of their two-year-old child.
In a recent interview with XXL, Carti touched on Iggy’s parenting skills as he heaped praise on the Fancy rapper, saying, “Iggy, she’s a great mom. I love her to death. I’m single. She’s single now. But that’s one of the best mothers in the world. And that’s what you got to put in the book, you hear me? I love her to death. She is the best mother in the world[…] I take care of a lot of people. I take care of my mom. I take care of my family. I take care of my baby mom [and] I take care of my son.”

Iggy didn’t appear all that amused by Carti’s implication he was taking care of her bills as she later took to Twitter to deny her ex-boyfriend’s claims.
“Take care of me? Lmaooooo,” she tweeted. “Let’s not get carried away now.”
A fan then messaged her via the social media platform, saying they were shocked upon reading that excerpt in the interview, prompting Iggy to add, “I laughed. A lot.”
Judging by Carti’s words about Iggy in his XXL interview, though, it would seem as if the pair is doing much better now that some time has passed since their split when the Aussie native took to Twitter to slam her ex for not spending any time with Onyx.
The Black Widow chart-topper was particularly furious about the situation because she believed Carti was more occupied with the mistress he was alleged to have cheated with while he was still seeing Iggy.
“I would never decide to do something of my own free will that meant missing a milestone moment with my son & if you do you’re trash,” the 31-year-old declared.
“Imagine not flying out your family on Christmas but you have the girl you cheated on my my entire pregnancy at your album party and magically me and my son can’t come for Christmas any more? TRASH.”
Fans were quick to throw their support behind Iggy, with one tweeting out in response, “Facts spend as much time as you can especially while he’s still a baby.”
Iggy replied with a simple, “Period!!!! you can’t rewind time.”
