Idaho Pastor Lands In ICU With COVID-19 After Doubting The Severity Of The Virus
Paul Van Noy, a Coeur d’Alene, Idaho pastor, has landed himself in the ICU with COVID-19 for two weeks after doubting the severity of the virus.
The senior pastor at Candlelight Church previously and repeatedly called himself a “no-masker” during service, along with questioning the veracity of the coronavirus case reporting. In July, he told parishioners, “May we keep our heads at a time like this. And, may we defend our freedoms lest they quickly disappear. We will not close down our church, we will not stop singing praises to the Lord, and we will not be required to wear masks or refrain from allowing those who wish to wear one the opportunity.”

Van Noy’s additional false claims that wearing a mask doesn’t prevent COVID-19 transmission, led to five other church staffers contracting the virus. While they’ve all recovered, Van Noy has since updated his congregation of his own diagnosis, along with his wife’s, and recently shared that he’s expecting to move out of ICU and into another room in the hospital, and soon home to continue recovering. Taking to the church’s website, Van Noy says, “At present I feel OK but still need quite a bit of oxygen support — especially if and when I try to get up out of the bed. I am watching in prayer that there are no new cases and we can all be back together—worshipping together as called—very soon. Please pray for health and strength for all.”
