ICYMI: ‘Brick lady’ Surrendered Amidst Scandal Of Fraudulent GoFundMe Campaign — Shortly Released After Posting $10,000 Bond

Welp, the Houston woman known as the ‘Brick Lady’ finally surrendered to police after making headlines over her viral scandal.

As previously reported, the woman identified as Roda Osman initially shared an emotional video claiming she was attacked by a man for turning him down. “What have I ever  to anybody in my life to deserve this?” shared the injured woman. “I have never done anything in my life to hurt anybody. Literally a man asked me for my number and I said, ‘No.’ And he picked up a brick, in front of so many men, and was like, ‘What are you going to do?’” she said through tears in a TikTok video.

This false narrative led to an outpouring of support, with sympathetic individuals donating a staggering $42,302 to her GoFundMe account. However, officials investigating the case determined that the entire incident had been fabricated, and the funds were collected under false pretenses.

Furthermore, authorities eventually discovered surveillance footage that showed Osman engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with a man. According to court documents, she allegedly struck him in the face with an unknown object, and in response, he retaliated by hitting her with what appeared to be a water bottle.

Upon gathering substantial evidence, an arrest warrant was issued for Osman on January 18. Although she intended to turn herself in on the same day, she failed to appear. This delay only added to the intrigue surrounding the case, leaving many questioning her motives and actions. Eventually, she did surrender to the authorities, leading to her court appearance and subsequent release after posting a $10,000 bond.

Making false reports to the authorities can have serious consequences. The specific consequences may vary depending on the jurisdiction and the nature of the false report, but some common consequences include legal repercussions, wasting resources, damage to credibility, emotional and psychological impact to the person falsely accused and more.

Despite being released on bond, Osman’s legal troubles are far from over. Court records indicate that she is scheduled to appear in court again on March 5. This upcoming hearing will likely shed further light on the case and determine the next steps in the legal process. It remains to be seen how the court will handle the charges of theft and the fraudulent GoFundMe campaign.
