In a cover story for @teenvogue, Ice Spice talks about her music career and how she’s been taking the music world by storm ever since dropping her catchy hit song, “Munch.”
While speaking with the magazine, the rapper shared how great her experience has been having a successful music career. “My job is being a rapper,” says Ice Spice. “Like, what the f*ck? That’s mad lit.”
With her breakthrough track, the Bronx rapper continues to reach new heights on the charts. She has amassed more Top 5 Billboard Hot 100 hits than any other artist so far in 2023, according to outlets. Chart Data recently reported that Ice Spice reached the milestone thanks to her musical collabs which include “Karma” featuring Taylor Swift, currently sat at No. 2 on the chart earlier this month, “Princess Diana” featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at No. 4, and “Boy’s A Liar” with PinkPantheress, which came in at No. 3. Clearly, everyone is feeling her and she’s making sure to cater to everyone… not just the girls. She told the outlet, “I wouldn’t say girls, specifically, because the gays love me and I love the gays. I’m just making [music] that I like, honestly…. Everybody could really vibe to the beats. The beats is the most important thing. The beats be hard, n****s be wanting to hear that too. So I feel like everything else complements it.”
Although this is just the beginning for her, Ice Spice is ultimately proud of herself and how far she’s come.
“When I’m watching myself back on TV and stuff, I feel like I’m watching as Isis and I’m just watching Ice Spice like everybody else,” she explains.
“I’m most proud of staying grounded so far, because I’ve already been through so many things that I know a lot of people would’ve lost their f*cking minds. The whole lifestyle change is super drastic, especially coming from where I come from, not coming from sh*t and not having a lot growing up, to now — it’s the complete opposite…. Even though it’s a positive change, it’s still a change.”
What’s Next For Ice Spice?
The 23-year-old said she has “some really cool things planned. This is probably the most exciting year I’ve ever lived. I’m mentally preparing as I go… like, okay, soon things are going to get crazier. I’m excited.”
