Imagine putting your blood, sweat, tears, and money into something you always dreamed of having all for it to be wiped away before you actually get a chance to enjoy it. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened to well-respected nail artist, Jenny Bui.

The business owner who is also known for being Cardi B’s longtime nail tech, was gearing up to open her new location last month in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx. But just days before it was set to open its doors, it went up in flames. FDNY units responded to reports of a fire at the location on September 28th and noted that the flames originated at the center of the store in a pile of boxes and stock.

Following an investigation by FDNY Fire Marshalls, Jenny Bui’s husband, Nguyen Bui was arrested for setting her store on fire. According to ABC7, he has since been charged with arson, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment. He is scheduled for court next month.

Jenny Bui has made a GoFundMe account to help with expenses to try to put the pieces of her store back together. In a heartbreaking plea to donors, Bui explains how she “lost everything I worked hard for.”

Her GoFund description reads,
“Hi my name is Jenny I own the nail salon located 3820 E Tremont located in the Bronx, I was currently moving into this new location when I received a call the morning of September 28 from my store neighbors saying my nail salon has just burned down. I just had landed from Canada because I had to fly out because my brother was very sick and to rush to my business and seeing it all gone.”

She continued, “I’ve been remolding and fixing this location to celebrate my grand opening on October 27th and because of this tragedy I lost it all, I couldn’t even file for insurance because I wasn’t open for business yet so sadly all my hard work and investment on all my beauty products got all burned down , NO INSURANCE NO RECOVERY on anything, I am so heartbroken and sad everything I worked hard for all taken away, I am asking for help to rebuild my dream salon and get my business and family to have faith again thank you, everyone, any little counts.”

It’s truly a devastating loss for Bui who has built her business off great respect and a good
clientele.

In an old interview with Cosmopolitan, she even detailed working with stars like Yandy Smith and eventually Cardi B who has become one of her loyal customers to this day. While speaking to the magazine in 2018, she said Cardi B “gets her nails done by me once a month. Even if it’s just a small event, she doesn’t let anyone else touch them. She always comes to the salon too. I’ve only gone to Cardi to do her nails twice. She rarely asks me to go because she knows I’m busy, and I have to support my kids who are still in school. She’s very respectful of my time.”

She also recalled, “There would be times back then when she’d want to pay me, and I’d say, “It’s OK, I won’t charge,” or, “I’ll charge you half price.” I did that because I really liked her and because she gave me a lot of respect. She treats me like I’m a special person, like I’m not just a nail tech. I look at her like she’s my daughter, and she looks at me like I’m her auntie.”

Since the news broke about Jenny’s salon, her customers and supporters have been sending her a bunch of encouraging words online.
