The husband, identified as 53-year-old Jack Chen, installed several nanny cams in their $2.7million home, which he claims his wife knew about.
Chen had filmed his “abusive” wife pouring Drano into a cup, which he claimed to be his lemonade. The husband also claimed that a doctor diagnosed with stomach ulcers, gastritis and esophagus inflammation after the alleged crimes.
Yu was eventually arrested and posted a $30,000 bail. As of August 10, she has not been charged.
Additionally, upon her arrest, Yu was served with divorce papers and a domestic violence restraining order, requiring her to remain 300 feet away from her husband of 10 years and their 8-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son.

Now, Yu’s lawyer, David Wohl, claims Chen’s accusations are “completely absurd and untrue.” Wohl adds, that Chen was “desperate to have reasons to gain custody of the children” after his client was caught on camera with the drain cleaner.
Wohl refutes Chen’s claims and said his client was in fact pouring the chemical solution into an empty cup, but only to prevent the substance from splashing up at her and making a mess as she tried to clean and unclog the kitchen sink pipes.
Wohl went on to say: “The idea that my client, who is a 45-year-old well-respected dermatologist in Orange County, would destroy her life, destroy her children’s lives and try to kill her husband is just completely absurd and untrue — and for that matter, defamatory.”
Wol added, “We do know that he was desperate for a divorce filing. He was desperate to have reasons to gain custody of the children. We believe that these claims he made are all part and parcel of that effort. ”

Meanwhile, Chen’s lawyer, Steven Hittelman, said his client told police that he had noticed a chemical taste in his drink and ended up being sick for months. Later, he claims to have been diagnosed with stomach issues.
Hittelman said Yu was “very methodical.” and that seeing her allegedly commit the crimes his client said she did was “just unnerving to actually see.” He added, “It is very intimate to commit murder to know what her husband’s patterns and preferences are and seamlessly introduce poison into his routine.”
Regarding the alleged abuse by Yu, in court documents Chen says, “After the children were born I became concerned about Emily’s behavior. Not only was she was very demanding of me that I give her massages, one time when I could not because I was sick she stepped on my head until I did it.”
The couple’s next court date is scheduled for August 18, and then it will be determined if a restraining order will be upheld by the court for the net five years.
