The mother of ten children says her husband abandoned his family after learning about the pregnancy
Nalongo Glorida told her husband, Ssalongo, that she was pregnant again with their ninth and tenth child. Unfortunately, he called the situation “abnormal” and left his family shortly after she gave birth to them. She told NTC Mwasuze Mutya that her husband felt overwhelmed after learning she was pregnant with the fifth set of twins. “When I got pregnant with twins on the third day, the man said this was too much for him and told me to go home. Where he was sending me, I didn’t have their numbers anymore because I came to Kampala to work as a house girl,” she explained.
“I don’t regret giving birth to all these children. I know their father doesn’t like them, and I can’t drop them at his place. Despite the challenges, I will never abandon my kids. I know God will provide. I handed my things to the Lord. I have suffered but God knows best,”
Previously, he gave her a set of ultimatums if she failed to produce one child at the beginning of their marraige.

According to The Sun, the fertility rate in Uganda is believed to be higher where the reported average is 5.6 children to one woman. The World Bank said the global average is 2.4 children and Uganda’s rate has doubled.
A similar situation happened where another woman reportedly gave birth to 44 children within her lifetime
Last month, Mariem Nabatanzi, was warned by doctors that she would experience severe health issues if she reportedly stopped giving birth. Nabatanzi gave birth to four sets of twins, five sets of triplets, and five set of quadruplets. Her husband abandoned the family and left with the family’s savings where she was left to care for 38 children, 20 boys and 18 girls.
She gave birth to a single child once and six of her childrrn died. Nabatanzi said she was diagnosed with a condition called hyperovulation due to having abnormally large ovaries. The condition is when the production and release of more than one egg during a menstrual cycle and can occur naturally. The condition can also occur when a woman undergoes hormorne treatments for egg donation. Due to the nature of hyperovulation, the chances of having twins or triplets increases.
Although there is treatment for hyperovulation, it is apparently hard to get due to the medical care system in Uganda.
