Riaan Naude, 55, was found dead next to his vehicle in Marken Road, Limpopo. According to the New York Post, two hunting rifles were found in his truck near the Kruger National Park wildlife reserve and said the suspect pulled up next to Naude’s vehicle and then shot him execution-style. Prior to his death, there were recent photos of Naude standing next to the animals he just hunted on his social media pages.

The Heritage Protection Group said in a statement that two men stepped out of a white Nissan pickup truck before the shooting but one of them fired the fatal shot.

“Acccording to eyewitnesses, a white bakkie stoped next to the man and shot him in cold blood at a short distance, after which the two suspects got out and presumably just looted a pistol. The suspects then jumped into the vehicle and raced in the direction of Marken. The man was lying with his face up and there was blood on his head and face.”

Police said they also found hunting rifles, clothes, water, whiskey, and pajamas in his vehicle which means he was most likely preparing for a hunting trip. His company, Pro Hunt Africa charges $350 per hunting day event, $2,500 for crocodile hunting, and $1,500 to hunt giraffes.

“The motive for the attack and the subsequent murder is unknown at this stage,”

Social media reacts to the shooting and has mixed feelings

Although the motive for the shooting is currently unknown, many people believe the hunter’s death is karma for hunting and killing animals for sport. “Do it your way and there will be no wildlife. You may not like hunting but hunters keep the habitat that allows wildlife to thrive,” one Twitter user wrote.
