Hunter Biden Charged With Failing To Pay Federal Income And illegally Having A Weapon — Expected To Plead Guilty

This Tuesday, President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden was charged with failing to pay federal income tax and illegally possessing a weapon. He has now reached an agreement with the Justice Department, according to a letter filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

As part of the agreement, Hunter Biden will plead guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses while admitting he failed to pay taxes on income he received in 2017 and 2018. In exchange, prosecutors will recommend probation, meaning he will likely avoid prison time. It was also said that he has agreed to enter a so-called pretrial diversion agreement in connection with a charge of possession of a firearm by a person who is a user or addict of illegal drugs, according to the filing.

Now, if a federal judge accepts the deal, this latest development would mark an end to the long-running Justice Department investigation into Biden’s second son, who has publicly admitted to struggling with addiction following the 2015 death of his brother Beau Biden.

As this is all planning to be resolved soon, Hunter Biden’s attorney, Christopher Clark, released a statement saying,

“Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement,” Clark stated. “A firearm charge, which will be subject to a pretrial diversion agreement and will not be the subject of the plea agreement, will also be filed by the Government. I know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life. He looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward.”

Meanwhile, in a short statement, the White House said the Bidens “love their son.”
“The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment,” said White House spokesman Ian Sams.

Of course, Donald Trump reacted to the latest news. He said in a post on his Plato from Truth Social:

“The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment,” said White House spokesman Ian Sams.

More Of Hunter Biden’s Legal Drama

In 2020, Fox News first reported that the FBI had subpoenaed a laptop and hard drive that allegedly belonged to Hunter Biden in connection with a money-laundering investigation in late 2019.

Hunter publicly acknowledged he was under investigation related to his taxes weeks after his dad’s presidential election. At the time, Biden said he took the matter “very seriously.” However, he was “confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”
