Lil Rel is taking over HBO with his upcoming comedy special “Lil Rel Live In Crenshaw.”

Hollywood Unlocked was in the building for the premiere of Lil Rel’s HBO Comedy Special “Lil Rel Live In Crenshaw.

While there we talked to Rel about the importance of bringing comedy to Crenshaw following the death of Nipsey Hussle!

He shared that having the community involved in his comedy was a way to being the joy back to the district.

At the beginning of his set, he starts off with the singing of the black national anthem followed by a performance from a local Compton step team.

The whole show was filmed in a high school gym which made the set so much more comfortable. Fans laughed as Rel joked about his family and told jokes that literally everyone could relate to.
