Hollywood Unlocked sat down for an exclusive advanced screening of Blumhouse’s latest sci-fi thriller, “Don’t Let Go,” with a special sit down with David Oyelowo.
The film is an emotional roller-coaster that follows Detective Jack Radcliffe (David Oyelowo) who is a cop and doting uncle to his niece, Ashley (Storm Reid, “A Wrinkle In Time”). His brother (and Ashley’s dad) Garret (Brian Tyree Henry) has had a rocky past and it comes back to haunt him as it leads to the death of his entire family, including Ashley.
After discovering his family’s tragic fates, Jack is grief-stricken and unable to come to terms with what happened. In a twist of fate, he begins to get calls on his phone from Ashley who is in an alternate timeline — she is in the past before the day of the murders, and he’s in the present trying to solve the crime. Once he realizes that he has a chance to save Ashley, Jack stops at. nothing and discovered that the killer is someone close to him.
As we sat down with David he revealed that the movie really touches on the themes of love, the strength, and relationship between an uncle and his niece. In addition, David sheds light on what sets a role apart for him and what makes him want to take on a script and rising young black stars like Storm Reid paving the way for others.
“Don’t Let Go” will be released August 30.
