Howard Stern Tells Staff ‘Go F**k Yourself’ After They Called Him Unsympathetic To Show Engineer Whose Wife Died Of Cancer

Howard Stern is telling his staff to “go f**k yourself” after they called him out for being unsympathetic to his show’s engineer, whose wife died of cancer. In an exposé by The New York Post, it was revealed that in 2018, longtime engineer for ‘The Howard Stern Show‘ Scott Salem asked his superiors if he could launch a GoFundMe (GFM) for the piling medical bills (insurance, treatment, etc.) for his wife, who’d been battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 2013.

Sources say Stern’s chief operating officer Marci Turk approved the launch, however, it couldn’t include mention of the show or Stern. Complying, Salem’s campaign earned more than $73,000. However, sources say Stern wasn’t happy, particularly because employees began gossiping about why he hadn’t offered any money himself, being he was the seventh-highest-earning celebrity in America, hauling in $90 million, per Forbes.

Amid the campaign, sources say Salem was demoted to another floor and removed from show scripts; and when Salem’s wife died in June 2018, Stern, who reportedly gave him the silent treatment after the GFM, sent his condolences via email. Responding to the backlash, Stern recently told his radio audience, “The New York Post wrote an article that I’m a scumbag. I swear to you, I don’t spend a minute worrying about it. I couldn’t give a f–k what people think about me. You don’t like me, you don’t wanna work for me. Go f–k yourself. I don’t care. I, at the end of the night, sleep fine.”
