How Much Time Will He Get? Jussie Smollett To Face Sentencing This Thursday
This Thursday, actor Jussie Smollett will be sentenced by a Cook County judge just three months after a jury found him guilty of lying to police following his eight-day trial in December.

As we previously reported, the former “Empire” actor told Chicago police he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in Streeterville back in January 2019. Following a long investigation and years in court, Smollett was convicted of five of six felony counts of disorderly conduct for lying to police. He faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison per count.
However, legal experts have pointed out that it’s unlikely Smollett will be given a prison sentence considering he has a pretty clean criminal record and the non-violent nature of the charges, which are low-level, Class 4 felonies, the New York Post notes; so it’ll be up to Judge James Linn if he gets any time at all.
Jussie has yet to speak out ahead of sentencing. Cameras will be allowed in the courtroom for Thursday afternoon’s hearing.
