Timing After Protests
The shooting came just one day after protesters gathered outside the same building in response to ABC’s announcement that it would “indefinitely” shut down Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show. The suspension has sparked backlash and debate across the country.
On Wednesday, ABC confirmed it was pulling Kimmel’s show following pressure from major broadcast companies Nexstar and Sinclair. The move came after conservative figure Charlie Kirk’s death, which became a flashpoint in political and cultural debates. Kimmel’s show was yanked not just from the main network but also from ABC affiliates nationwide.
Sinclair’s Demands
Reports indicate that Sinclair provided a list of conditions for Kimmel if he wanted to return to the air. Those demands included a “direct apology” to Charlie Kirk’s family, as well as donations to both the family and Turning Point USA. So far, Kimmel has not responded publicly to the demands.
