Honey Boo Boo to undergo weight-loss surgery after her 17th birthday — her manager reportedly says it’s to better her health
Honey Boo Boo’s team is already sharing her post-b-day plans ahead of her 17th birthday.
Speaking with @tmz_tv, her rep Gina Rodriguez shares that the reality star will be heading to Queens, New York in late August to have a weight loss procedure after her 17th birthday.
It was said that Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, is getting a suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve from weight loss doctor Steven Batash, which can set someone back about $13K. It was shared that she has tried diets and even increased her exercise over the past year but hasn’t gotten the results she hoped she would. Per TMZ, Alana is currently 275 pounds and wants to get down to 150. Ultimately she just wants to live her best and healthier life.
Now, Boo Boo won’t be alone during this journey. The teen will be going under the knife alongside her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, who also has weight-loss goals in mind.

Boo Boo, and Carswell, 20, have been dating since mid-2021. However, they went Instagram-official at the end of September. She previously spoke about their relationship in an interview with Teen Vogue. She said,
“To be honest, I do not have many friends. At all,” she admitted at the time, “because I feel like folks are so much like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo.’” She added, “I don’t trust nobody, really, so I don’t have friends.”
Even her mother, Mama June Shannon, has also opened up about her daughter’s relatiokship and revealed that they have received a lot of hate simply because they are in their interracial relationship:
“She is getting a lot of hate because she’s in an interracial relationship, he is older,” the “Mama June: Road to Redemption” star told TooFab of her daughter’s romance. “At the end of the day, Alana’s not that 6-, 7-year-old child y’all fell in love with 11 years ago.”
