Hillsong church is getting unholier by the minute. Not only has the infamous megachurch been rife with scandal, but now an ongoing investigation into the founder, pastor Brian Houston has landed him in some legal trouble!

Houston, who now lives in the U.S, has been charged with concealing child sex offenses committed by his deceased father Frank Houston. Brian is accused of holding back information in regards to his father’s actions of sexually abusing multiple boys in the 1970s. “These charges have come as a shock to me given how transparent I’ve always been about this matter,” Houston said Thursday, per The Guardian. “I vehemently profess my innocence and will defend these charges and I welcome the opportunity to set the record straight.”

In response to the allegations, Hillsong defended its founder, adding that it was “disappointed” about the pending charges but,

“We ask that he be afforded the presumption of innocence and due process as is his right… He has advised us that he will defend this and looks forward to clearing his name. We thank all who are a part of our church for their support and prayers at this time.”

Houston will appear in an Australian court on October 5.
