At the time of the initial reporting, the victim was identified as 19-year-old Madison Brooks, also known as “Madi.” She was an Alpha Phi sorority student at Louisiana State University.
On January 15, Brooks was hit by a car in Baton Rouge and succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. Upon her passing, officials with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested four people on suspicion of rape in connection with the Brooks’ death.

His formal charges include first-degree rape and third-degree rape, but a grand jury has decided against indicting him on one count of kidnapping.

Video footage has since been obtained of Brooks exiting a vehicle and being struck by a ride-share vehicle around 3 a.m.
In the video, Carter is seen sitting next to Brooks, when she tells him to “get out” of the car, so she can “Uber on her own.” Brooks then says, “I’m sorry that I offended you that bad,” before she allegedly insulted Carver, who was driving the car.
It is reported that an argument allegedly broke out, and all of the videos were recorded after Carter and Washington allegedly raping Brooks in the backseat of the car.
