A mother now has to live without her precious 5-year-old daughter after her life was tragically taken by her own grandparents.

Little Jada Moore was killed on July 14 in the suburban Chicago home of Klent Elwoods 62, and his wife, Lisa Jones, 57. While there, Jada was brutally beaten by Elwoods. After not getting a response from her, he called 911 and admitted to a dispatcher, “I was beating my little granddaughter and now she is out of it. Officers arrived at the home and found Jada “lying on the couch completely nude.” According to a police report by Law & Crime, the grandfather was quoted as telling the police that he began beating Jada after she soiled her underwear. As
he was riding in the back of a police car, Elwoods allegedly said: “I was a little too rough with my grandbaby.”

EMTs performed CPR on baby Jada then airlifted to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she died early Saturday.

Per the outlet, Miss Jones allegedly shared that her granddaughter “had a history of ‘pooping’ on herself,” and that the last time she had an accident, Elwoods threatened to whip her with a belt if she soiled her pants again. “Elwoods then reminded [Jada] what he would do if she defecated on herself again,” the report stated. “Elwoods then grabbed a belt and had [Jada] bend over. Elwoods then proceeded to strike [Jada] on her buttocks between 10 and 12 times.”

During an investigation, cops who searched their home turned up a pair of soiled children’s underwear, a belt, a notarized letter from Jada’s mom giving the grandparents custody for school and medical decisions, and a calendar with four dates marked in the month of June allegedly indicating when Jada had previously defecated on herself.

In an interview with NBC News the heartbroken mother spoke out and explained why her daughter was with her grandparents to begin with.

Kimberly Elwoods told the outlet that her father visited her in Georgia and told him she was going through a rough time. Not only was she looking for a permanent home and job at the time but things were so tough for her that her father agreed to keep her daughter for a couple of months.

One day, Kimberly got a call but it wasn’t a check-in call as most parents would expect when their child is away. Instead, she got the heart-dropping call that her father was being accused of killing her sweet little girl.

As painful as this was to take in, the mother who flew out to Chicago to the medical examiner’s office to identify her young daughter said she’s all out of tears.

“I am all out of tears. I look at him as a monster. I don’t even want to carry his last name no more,” said Kimberly to Fox32Chicago.

The grandparents are still in custody and are currently being held without bond. They are due back in court next month. Meanwhile, there is also a vigil scheduled outside the couple’s Park Forest home this Thursday.
