Harvey Weinstein Reportedly Going Blind & Losing Teeth In NY Prison, Lawyers Argue Against LA Extradition
Lawyers for Harvey Weinstein are arguing against his extradition to LA as he’s reportedly going blind and losing teeth while serving a sentence in a NY prison.
As we reported, the disgraced movie producer is currently serving a 23-year sentence for rape and sexual assault in a New York prison, has also been indicted on sexual assault charges in Los Angeles, where he now faces extradition. However, his legal team, consisting of Mark Werksman and Norman Effman, are trying to keep him stable due to his deteriorating health and “humanitarian” reasons.
Per his legal team, Weinstein is “technically blind and has major dental issues,” including him allegedly losing 4 teeth and possibly more soon. Weinstein’s lawyers say prison officials have already scheduled 2 medical procedures, one each for his sight and teeth. Plus, Effman says his client is still experiencing cardiac issues, diabetes, back pain and sleep apnea. For these reasons, Weinstein’s legal team requests he remain in the medical unit until he’s sent back to the maximum-security prison in New York to serve his rape sentence.
