Halsey Cancels Concert After Maryland Storm Left Fans Soaked In Water From Major Flooding At The Venue

Pop star Halsey was forced to cancel her concert in Maryland on Wednesday after a severe case of flooding erupted at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. The weather forecast in the area had already warned of flash floods and tornado alerts, but the Without Me singer’s team seemed adamant about going ahead with the show after organizers claimed they weren’t expecting more than a few showers of rain, as fans began to take their seats.

Soon after entering the venue and waiting for the opening act to perform, fans took notice of an increasing gush of heavy wind and rain dripping onto their seats before a huge flood broke out, leaving each and every concertgoer drenched in water.

Disappointed fans took to Twitter to show just how bad things had gotten at the venue, as water surged down the bleachers, with one person tweeting, “There’s no way this Halsey Maryland show is real like WHAT.” Another tweeted, “There were literal waterfalls, floods, and staff kicking a squirrel at Halsey’s Maryland show today?? I can’t believe they didn’t cancel the concert until after people were drenched and traumatized. Having the show canceled sucks but I really hope everyone is ok and safe.”

While the Merriweather Post Pavilion initially thought the show could move ahead despite the severe weather conditions, when staging equipment were beginning to get destroyed and people became increasingly concerned for their safety, the concert was finally canceled. Halsey went on to issue a few words to her devastated fans as some were puzzled why the show wasn’t pulled if there were already signs that a storm was expected to hit the area later in the day.

The 27-year-old hopped on Twitter to stress, “Maryland I don’t even know what to say. If you missed my live, I’ll post something soon explaining what happened. But right now I’m heartbroken and panicked and I just want to know when/that you all get home safely. I love you guys more than anything.”

She later promised to reschedule the show to a later date while profusely apologizing to concertgoers for the mishap of not canceling the show in a reasonable amount of time before people had begun filling out the venue and waited for Halsey to take to the stage.

According to her, canceling the event was out of her control because it was the venue’s responsibility to not only control the chaos that erupted but also assure the safety of those who attended the show. “I promise I wanted to more than anything. But I couldn’t because it would have been SO unsafe if I went out there and people rushed the stage during or after the storm.” she continued.

A lot of things were out of my control tonight, but I promise everything I COULD choose, I chose your safety. I really want to add that I am beyond disappointed with the way the venue handled everything tonight and my rescheduled date will be happening somewhere else. I hear you guys loud and clear I promise.

It’s unclear at this time when Halsey plans to reschedule the Maryland concert gig.
