Twitter users are going off after noticing the official Little Mermaid trailer posted on the Walt Disney Studios’ YouTube channel received over 1.5 million dislikes. On Youtube, the trailer has gathered 15 million views and counting in a matter of 5 days

The video currently has 727,000 likes, but Disney recently disabled the dislikes after receiving 1.5 million thumbs-downs in just two days, according to The Daily Mail. 

Some Twitter users feel folks are jealous that the Grownish star, Halle Bailey is playing Ariel in The Little Mermaid. One Twitter user slammed folks saying, “the little mermaid teaser trailer having 1m dislikes is actually f*king pathetic. and the thing is… the teaser actually looks good… yall just hate the fact that halle bailey is playing ariel”

Another person wrote, “1.5 million dislikes on The Little Mermaid trailer…..Why? because she’s black? Mermaids are fantasy creatures and aren’t supposed to be tied to any skin color. Stay mad.”

“It is BLATANTLY clear that the only reason someone would dislike the trailer is because Ariel is now played by a Black actress. So y’all are racist,” read a tweet posted on Wednesday.
