Gypsy Rose Blanchard is making a bunch of changes to her life including her physical appearance. The 32-year-old revealed exclusively to @PEOPLE that she is set to undergo rhinoplasty to alter the shape and look of her nose.

In a personal statement, Blanchard shared, “I’m currently on a journey of personal transformation, and that includes a physical one, too. Please wish me luck with my surgery and stay tuned to Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up this summer to see the whole process.”

According to Blanchard’s close friend Nadiya Vizier, the decision to undergo the procedure has been on Blanchard’s mind for some time. Vizier said, “She mentioned feeling a bit nervous, but ultimately, she’s excited that it’s happening. The main thing is that she wanted a more feminine looking nose. She just wants to fix it up and give it a more feminine look.”

Vizier emphasized that Blanchard’s choice to make this change is entirely her own. “My main message is to just, people need to let her live, let her experience, if they know that she’s doing something good or wrong, let her experience that. Let her learn from it. I feel like in a way, people are still trying to control her,” Vizier expressed.

Who Is Gypsy Rose?:

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is a woman who gained national attention due to her involvement in a highly publicized case of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. She was a victim of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, who fabricated illnesses and disabilities in Gypsy Rose, leading to unnecessary medical treatments and interventions.

The case came to light when Gypsy Rose orchestrated the murder of her mother with the help of her then-boyfriend, claiming it was the only way to escape from her mother’s abuse and control. Gypsy Rose Blanchard was subsequently sentenced to prison for her role in the murder. She was released earlier this ear.

The news of Blanchard’s upcoming surgery, scheduled for April 5 in Lafayette, La., follows the recent revelation of her separation from her husband of nearly two years, Ryan Anderson, who is set to appear in an upcoming documentary series.

In the midst of this separation, Blanchard has been seen spending time with her ex-fiancé Ken Urker, with the two even getting matching tattoos together earlier this week.
