Before their separation, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her former husband, Ryan Anderson, experienced a heated argument that left Blanchard fearing for her safety. According to her confidante, Nadiya Vizier, speaking to People, Blanchard was concerned that Anderson might become violent towards her. “Gypsy said she was afraid he would hit her,” Vizier shared. While Anderson did not become physically violent, Blanchard’s apprehension stemmed from past experiences with her mother, leading her to brace for the worst.

During the altercation, Anderson, significantly larger in stature, reportedly became aggressive, yelling in Blanchard’s face. However, Blanchard managed to find refuge and promptly sought legal advice. The specifics of what triggered their argument remain unknown but occurred in their Lake Charles, Louisiana, residence. Vizier noted Anderson’s controlling demeanor throughout their marriage, comparing Blanchard’s home environment to a prison. This revelation came alongside Blanchard’s decision to end their marriage, which had begun under unconventional circumstances—they wed in 2022 while Blanchard was incarcerated.
Blanchard, who was imprisoned for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s death, had her story gain notoriety due to Dee Dee’s diagnosis of Munchausen by proxy syndrome, which led to years of abuse for Gypsy. After serving eight years, Blanchard was released in December 2023, but her marriage to Anderson dissolved shortly after that. In March, Blanchard announced their separation through a private Facebook post, expressing her desire to rediscover herself and stating, “I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now, I need time to let myself find… who I am.” Their union lasted only three months after Blanchard’s parole.

Following her split from Anderson, Blanchard has been rekindling her connection with ex-fiancé Ken Urker, with whom she’s been spotted getting matching tattoos, signaling a close bond. Despite the public speculation, Vizier emphasized that Blanchard’s decision to leave Anderson was rooted in her pursuit of happiness, not a pivot back to Urker. Supporting this sentiment, Blanchard’s cousin, Bobby Pitre, suggested that Blanchard’s heart might still lie with Urker, hinting at a potential romantic reunion.
