‘Love and Hip Hop: Miami‘ star Gunplay was arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly pulled a gun on her while holding their 6-month-old daughter. Following his arrest, his wife, Vonshae Taylor Morales, alleged that he’s relapsed and she is now filing for divorce.
According to a Miami-Dade County arrest documents, Gunplay was arrested Saturday night (Aug. 19) on multiple charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, false imprisonment and child abuse.
The initial report of the rapper’s arrest broke via Miami journalist Andy Slater, who reported that the former Maybach Music Group artist was accused of allegedly pointing a rifle at his wife while she was holding their infant child.
Slater took to his official account on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and said: “JUST IN: Rapper ‘Gunplay’ was arrested in Miami. He’s accused of pointing a rifle at his wife while she was holding their 6-month-old baby, law-enforcement sources tell me. This allegedly happened after his wife told him to quiet down while playing Xbox. Gunplay denies it all.”

Following the news of the 44-year-old rapper’s arrest that accused him of pulling a gun on his wife while she held their daughter, Gunplay’s wife spoke out about the alleged horrific incident. On Sunday (August 20), Vonshae posted a lengthy message on her Instagram, recalling the moment he allegedly pulled a gun on her, and claiming it was because he allegedly relapsed on drugs and alcohol.
Vonshae said, “I just want everyone to know my daughter and I are safe. My daughter’s safety is my first priority. Unfortunately, Richard is back using and developed a very bad drinking problem. I’ve tried everything in my power to help him and love him. This is a demon he has to overcome on his own. At this point I really believe it’s too late.”
She continued, “To summarize last night’s event. I asked Richard to quiet down as he scared the baby sleeping by yelling playing call of duty. He started going off on me for asking him to be quiet. I tried to collect a bag so my daughter and I could go to a room while he sobered up. He didn’t want us to leave and things went left fast. He was arrested last night, the weapon is in police custody. I have a restraining order, my daughter is in my custody and I am filing for divorce. He will never get the chance to disrespect us again. Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. This is a very traumatizing experience. Please keep me in your prayers.”
