Gunmen Shoot Mothers & Newborn Babies At Maternity Hospital In Afghanistan

#Socialites join us in sending our prayers to the people of Kabul, Afghanistan who are dealing with two horrific attacks, including one on a maternity clinic.

Gunmen are reported to have stormed in and attacked a hospital that houses a maternity clinic, killing at least 16 people including two newborn babies! A suicide bomber also murdered 24 others who were attending a funeral, in a separate attack.

“These newborns, among the first voices they heard, on the first day of their lives, was the sound of gunfire … and among their first experiences, being targeted in a war they and their mothers had no part in,” Shaharzad Akbar, the chair of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights commission tweeted. “Will their lives, like ours, continue to be shaped by war?”

Horrific images depict troops running out with newborn babies in desperate attempts to save those that survived. The victims include mothers, babies, nurses, doctors and young children. Special forces killed all of the attackers.

The Taliban has said that it had no hand in the attacks and no other group has claimed responsibility.
