The Marvel Universe is ever-expanding, adding new layers to films we all know and love. But for the Guardians of the Galaxy, the journey comes to an emotional end with the final installment of the trilogy, Vol. 3.
Hollywood Unlocked was on the red carpet for the world premiere, where fans turned up in full costume, embodying their favorite characters. The atmosphere was electric as the crowd cheered for their favorite stars, and we had the chance to catch up with the cast — including Chris Pratt himself.
While this film marks the final chapter for the Guardians as we know them, it dives deeper into the life stories of several beloved characters — and what could have been. Fans will get an emotional look into the backstory of Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper, whose journey is at the heart of this movie. They’ll also meet a new, very different version of Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña — a Gamora who is no longer the woman Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) fell in love with, and the same woman Thanos once killed.
Not only does this film close the chapter for some fan-favorite characters, but it also marks a major transition for the film’s writer and director, James Gunn.

Gunn, who co-wrote and directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014) and Vol. 2 (2017), and returned to close the trilogy with Vol. 3, is officially heading over to DC Studios. Gunn previously stepped into the DC Universe to write and direct The Suicide Squad and now has several new superhero projects in development.
Cast members we spoke with shared how Gunn’s unique touch — particularly his blend of humor and heart — changed the tone of the MCU and influenced other films like Thor: Ragnarok. While Gunn hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a Marvel-DC crossover in the future, for now, fans will have to savor this final ride with the Guardians.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now officially in theaters — be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!
