A 24-year-man was shot and killed in front of a bowling alley as he attempted to break up a fight early Sunday.

Local police said the shooting occurred around 1:20 a.m at Bowlero when Greg Shead tried to break up a fight between two women. Shead died at the scene, and witnesses said they saw a white SUV leaving the area moments after. Police also reported that they are still searching for the alleged shooter.
Family members told police that Shead was visiting from California and returned to Houston to visit his mother and 11-month-old daughter as reported by Click2Houston.

Shead graduated from Atascocita High School and named an All-Star Region, Second Team All-State during his high school basketball career. He also attended South Plains College in Levelland, and played point guard on their basketball team.
Upon learning about the news, many expressed their condolences to the promising basketball star’s family and friends.
