Graphic Designers Show Out For Pop Smoke After Virgil Abloh’s Cover Art For The Rapper’s Album Disappoints Fans

Although Pop Smoke’s posthumous album “Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon” is set to release on July 3, we recently got to see the album cover made by the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear Virgil Abloh. While many fans expected to see “eye-catching” artwork that matched up to the late rapper’s great energy, fans were ultimately disappointed by the cover.

Virgil’s graphic featured basic diamond elements surrounding Pop Smoke along with a sword clutched on by grim metal hands. Some fans believed that Virgil put no effort into making the cover. 50 Cent, the Executive producer of Pop’s posthumous album, even wrote a message to Virgil saying, “Hey Virgil we need new album art, they ain’t going for this bullsh*t. Love ya work let’s get to it. 🤔Steven, I told you this sh*t was 😡eww let get it right!“

Pop Smoke’s Manager Steven Victor spoke out to let fans know that there will be a new album cover. While tweeting back to an angry fan, Victor tweeted “heard you”, “making a change” and “Pop would listen to his fans!” and added in a since-deleted Instagram post that “as pop’s label & as his friends/family, it is our obligation to bring his vision to life.” While it’s not clear when we’ll see a new cover, graphic designers already got started sharing their work in honor of the late star.

As we previously reported, Pop Smoke died back in February after a home invasion later turned out to be a targeted attack, according to TMZ. The suspects have not been caught and as far as we know, they have not been identified. He was just 20-years-old.
