Gloria Gaynor Goes Viral In Coronavirus PSA To Hit Track “I Will Survive”

As the coronavirus pandemic blazes on, a new viral challenge on social media has risen and it features the 1978 Gloria Gaynor hit “I Will Survive.”

While Mariah Carey and her babies created a cute TikTok singing to her’s and Old Dirty Bastard‘s “Fantasy (Remix),” it looks like Gloria Gaynor has jumped aboard the train, creating a viral #IWillSurviveChallenge.

In the viral video, Gaynor inspires others to properly wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds to combat the novel virus — to help, she sings her classic and timeless song.

Furthermore, Gaynor’s PSA follows the Center for Disease Control (CDC)’s recommended guidelines of pumping soap into your hands and rubbing for at least 20 seconds, making sure not to miss any nooks and crannies between fingers.

Additionally, the CDC says if soap and water isn’t available, hand sanitizer is the next best option, namely if it contains at least 60 percent alcohol.

As for prevention, Vanderbilt University’s Dr. William Schaffner says, “Surgical masks will not prevent your acquiring diseases.”
