Gillie Da Kid Opens Up About Losing His Son And Says He ‘Became A Man’ When He Had To Wash His Body: ‘That Was The Day I Knew It Was Real’

Wow this is heartbreaking! While speaking on the Pivot podcast, Gillie Da Kid opened up about losing his son, YNG Cheese, who fell victim to a senseless act of gun violence. The incident unfolded in a triple shooting that left the community in shock and mourning. 

In a recent interview with the sports podcast, Gillie was asked what was the worst time about losing his son. In a an emotional response, Gille can be heard saying, “the worst time had to be, well its kind of the worst and the best. The worst time had to be when I had to wash his body. That was the worst but it was also the best because I became a man that day. I thought I was a f*cking man but I wasn’t. But that day I became a man. I was a little a** boy until that point. I thought I was a man because I did man sh*t, I paid bills I took care of my family. I took care of my sisters I took care of my dad my mom and kids that’s not even my kids because they lost their dad but that day I became a man.”

He continued, “When I washed my son’s body it was a gift and a curse it was a good thing and abad thing because it was a very painful thing to see your son laying there cold and stiff but I know I sent him off right and in this lime that’s a big thing, sending him off right.” Gillie then took the time to look straight into the camera and give an emotional shoutout to his friend Freeway for being there with him every step of the way. “I want to thank Freeway from the bottom of my heart you were there every step of the way with me brother. Washing my son’s body, the hardest sh*t I ever had to do in my f*cking life I will always love you and respect you brother for life I appreciate that, but yeah that was the day that I knew it was real.”

As we previously reported, YNG Cheese whose real name is Devin Spady, was gunned down in Philadelphia last month in a triple shooting. He died from a single shot in the back. So far, no arrests have been made. Devin was just 25 years old.

Remembering his beloved son, Gillie recently said in a tribute post, “I Miss u like $hit Dev My heart will forever have a Black hole in it but u know ur father gotta be strong to hold the family up,” wrote the podcast host. “Thanks 4 all the support from family, friends, and all of my followers y’all really helping me get thru these ruff times Me, and my family appreciate and love y’all.”
