Ghislaine Maxwell Pleads Not Guilty To Sex Trafficking Charges Alongside Jeffrey Epstein

Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirator pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges accusing her of aiding in trafficking young girls to be sexually abused by Epstein and his billionaire friends.

Per NY Post, Maxwell appeared via video chat for her arraignment on a six-count indictment charging her with recruiting and grooming young women to be molested by Epstein. The prosecution also claimed that she also took part in abusing the women.

“How do you wish to plead to the charges?” Manhattan federal court Judge Alison Nathan asked.

“Not guilty, your honor,” Maxwell replied.

Maxwell’s case is somewhat more horrifying than Epstein, in terms that a woman was responsible for the atrocities against other women.

“This is not a behavior that we associate with women. There’s this understanding that women would protect other women, or that women would protect children. And that is unfortunately not the case,” said Laura Palumbo, communications director at the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. “People from all walks of life commit sexual abuse and harm.”

U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan set a July 2021 trial date for Maxwell.
