Judge Allison Nathan rejected Maxwell’s request on Friday and will move forward with her scheduled sentencing date for June 28. According to Metro UK, Maxwell’s lawyer requested a retrial days after her conviction in December after Juror 50 failed to disclose that he was sexually abused as a child during the jury selection process. Identified as Scott David, he also explained that he used the trauma from his childhood to persuade his fellow jurors who felt skeptical about the victims’ testimonies.

Nathan added that Maxwell’s attorneys failed to meet the requirements for their client to have a retrial and cited David’s juror selection process.

“The Court thus credits his testimony that he was distracted as he filled out the questionnaire and ‘skimmed way too fast,’ leading him to misunderstand some of the questions. Assuming mistakenly that he would not be one of the twelve jurors selected from the hundreds of prospective jurors who had been summoned, he rushed through the questionnaire.”

Maxwell’s attorneys have requested a delay in the decision prior to David’s TV interview.
