Gerogia DA Claimed Ahmaud Arbery Murder Was A ‘Justifiable Homicide’

Before recusing himself from the case, Glynn County, Georgia DA George Barnhill Sr. sent a five-point letter to police arguing why the two suspects in the Ahmaud Arbery murder should not be charged; in it, he called the shooting a “justifiable homicide.”

Additionally, District Attorney Barnhill explained that there was insufficient evidence to charge the two white men, Gregory McMichael, 64, and son, Travis McMichael, 34; this while knowing footage was released of them chasing Arbery and gunning him down with a shotgun.

DA Barnhill’s comments were released in a statement by Glynn County PD, which in part reads,“Detectives met with DA George Barnhill Sr. of the Waycross Judicial Circuit the following day and reviewed their findings with him. DA Barnhill, Sr., advised the detectives before noon on Feb. 24, that the act was justifiable homicide and for detectives to continue their investigation and provide him with lab reports and any additional information.”
