The attack occurred last Thursday at Rockdale County’s Heritage High School. Tiwana Turner, the teacher who broke her leg in the attack, has worked in the school system for 27 years, according to WSB-TV. After the incident, the female attacker was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center, and the school district said in a statement that she had been suspended from school and is facing criminal charges. Turner’s friend, Jean Cannon, and several others set up a GoFundMe account to cover her medical expenses, stating that she would not be able to return to work and would require rehabilitation and therapy.
“On the morning of Thursday, January 26, 2023, Ms. Turner was covering another class in lieu of her co-worker’s absence. When Ms. Turner attempted to redirect the off-task behavior of one of the students, the student proceeded to physically attack her. During the attack, Ms. Turner was thrown to the ground and sustained multiple injuries. She is currently hospitalized with knee and leg injuries, and is unable to walk. She will not be returning to work anytime soon, and she will require extensive rehabilitation and therapy.”

The news outlet said in a previous report that Turner is known as a good teacher among the student body but one student who witnessed the incident said she reportedly talks to them with “aggression.”
“It wasn’t scary, it was shocking. She’s a pretty good teacher, but how she talks, she talks with aggression. How she talks to kids is not a proper way to talk to them.”
In the video clip, the student said she attacked Turner because she allegedly said something about her mother, which led to an intense confrontation.

After the video went viral, social media reacted differently to the incident and wondered what they would do.
Black Twitter was stunned by the incident as some believe Turner didn’t do anything wrong toward the student. However, some believe teachers can be disrespectful toward their students without consequences.
Regardless of what the teacher said, if the student felt disrespected, she should’ve let her guardians & the principal handle it. We are raising our kids to handle any conflict & perceived insult with violence. It’s shameful. No respect for themselves or the community.

I agree with y’all but (and not tryna argue) the teacher is out of line for speaking on a CHILDS dead mom. I don’t think what she did was right but the pain in that girls voice in the second video told me she had nothing to lose… since she lost her mom

The first part the young girl said your not going to talk to me like that and stop getting in my face…now she’s saying that the teacher said something about her mother…kids struggle with mental health the teacher is a superior she should have descaled the situation
