A judge has issued an order asking for the ban of the Elf On The Shelf, a toy that “reports” the actions of children to Santa Claus before Christmas.

Cobb County Superior Court Judge Robert Leonard confirmed the banishment on his official Twitter page and said the tradition affects the emotional health and wellbeing of children. He writes:“Inexplicably, Elves sometimes move and don’t move overnight. When these Elves do not move, it leaves our children of tender years in states of extreme emotional distress. The undersigned recalls a horrific incident in his own home where three children were sent to school in tears, with one child being labeled an “Elf Murderer” and accused of making the elf “lose his magic. The Court has no doubt that day of education was lost to everyone.”

However, Judge Leonard tweeted it as a joke but the idea didn’t sit well for many parents who thought it was actually going to happen. He added that he came up with the idea for parents who grew tired of the tradition.
