George Floyd’s brother Terrence Floyd is slamming comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke shared while roasting Kevin Hart. Terrence says Kevin should’ve had the same energy Will Smith had with Chris Rock at the Oscars in March 2022.
Tony Hinchcliffe Makes Joke About George Floyd While Roasting Kevin Hart
As we previously shared, celebrities gathered on Sunday (May 10) for ‘The Roast of Kevin Hart.’ The live-streamed event took place at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026.
The roast was hosted by stand-up comedian, actor, and podcaster Shane Gillis. The roast featured cameos from other comedians and celebrities like: Tom Brady — who survived his own Netflix roast two years ago — Usher — who performed and dedicated a special version of “Let It Burn” to K Hart — Jeff Ross, Katt Williams, Sheryl Underwood, Chelsea Handler, Lizzo, Pete Davidson, Draymond Green, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Big Jay Oakerson, Na’im Lynn, and Tony Hinchcliffe.
Of the handfuls of celebrities to roast Hart, Hinchcliffe’s tone-deaf joke about George Floyd continues to trend. Floyd is the 46-year-old Black man who was killed on May 25, 2020 after being pinned to the ground and having his neck kneeled on by Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin.
As Hinchcliffe began to wrap his roast on Hart, he said:
“You know, Kevin, they told me not to mention your kids on this roast, but I must say, you did good. They’ve gotten so big they now buckle Kevin up in the car seat. It’s true, he lost his gig hosting the Academy Awards because of some homophobic tweets, but you’d be homophobic too if you were eye-level with everyone’s c**k. He got into a fist fight on a private plan—proof that matter how much money Black people have, they’re still just gonna act like niiiiinjas. Always fighting. Ha ha ha. Like Bill Cosby, hard as a Black comedian from Philadelphia. Unlike Bill Cosby, women don’t know when Kevin is inside of them. You’ve done good, though, Kevin. The Black community is so proud of you. Right now, George Floyd is looking up at us all, laughing so hard that he can’t breathe. God bless you, Kevin. God bless this room. And God bless the United States of America. Thank you so much.”

Terrence Floyd Slams Tony Hinchcliffe’s Joke About Brother George Floyd
During an exclusive interview with Loren LoRosa, Terrence Floyd addressed the joke Tony Hinchcliffe made about his brother George Floyd, while roasting Kevin hart. In the interview, shared on Wednesday (May 13), Terrence began with a disclaimer. He insisted that he understood the objectives of a roast. However, he’s unsure how his brother became a target, instead of the person “who you supposed to be roasting.”
LoRosa told Terrence that Hinchcliffe actually joked about his bother during the Roast of Tom Brady a few years ago. Terrence continued to blame this year’s producers for approving and allowing Hinchcliffe to take the stage with his inflammatory joke.
Terrence went on to say that Kevin Hart should’ve had the same energy as Will Smith at the Oscars with Chris Rock. He said he doesn’t condone the slap (the violence part), but wanted K Hart to have the same energy Will had in wanting to defend his wife Jada Pinkett Smith — whom he felt Chris Rock disrespected.
