Gen Z, the generation born between the late-1990s and early 2010s, has been found to have some interesting preferences when it comes to their daily routine. According to recent studies, many individuals from this particular generation prefer to take long showers, some lasting up to three hours. This trend has been dubbed the “everything shower,” where people use this time to reflect, listen to music, and take on their very long skincare routines. However, what’s more surprising is that some Gen Zers have reported that they prefer these extended showers over sex.

This preference for showers over physical intimacy has left many people over on TikTok scratching their heads. However, it’s important to remember that this is just one group of individuals from a vast and diverse generation. It should also be noted that there could be many reasons for their desire in having lengthy showers over intimacy. “An everything shower with hot water and Taylor Swift is better than sex. Sorry,” 22-year-old TikTok influencer Kourv Annon, who’s been part of the viral trend for a while, said on the social media platform. “I wash my hair, shave my legs, shave my armpits, deep condition, exfoliate, do my skincare. I do everything in the shower.”

In other viral videos, people said they were taking an “everything shower” once a week while others said once a month was more than enough for them. After all, one has to also consider the bills these guys are piling up from running their water for three hours straight. Some researchers suggest that the three-hour shower trend could be due to the rise of social media and technology, which has led to a decrease in face-to-face communication and physical touch.

Others believe that it could be a way for individuals to de-stress and unwind after a long day. While some may find this trend concerning, it’s also been argued that everyone has their unique preferences and ways of coping with stress. At the same time, choosing to like having long showers over sex in a relationship is crucial to talk about in order to encourage healthy communication between partners to ensure that everyone’s needs are met. As for Gen Zers who prefer long showers over intimacy, there’s nothing wrong with this preference as long as it doesn’t interfere with their relationships or daily life.

The average time a person should take a shower is around 13 minutes. This duration might differ from person to person and can also depend on various factors such as gender, age, and personal preferences. It is interesting to note that people spend almost the same amount of water and energy in the shower as they do in a bath.

Moreover, some people wish to spend more time in the shower, but on average, they feel satisfied with 13 minutes. Moen’s Consumer & Market Insights group conducted research that found males take more showers than females and 58% of US consumers prefer morning showers over any other time of the day.

Furthermore, it has been found that people spend their time in the shower daydreaming, singing and mulling over family issues and chores. Women are 16% more inclined to do this than men.
