When certain individuals achieve a significant level of success, they often forget where they came from. They forget the community that shaped them and attempt to erase any memory of their journey. Conversely, we hear influential figures express their desire for change in their hometowns but fail to follow through with action. Not Jason Lee.
After making an impulsive decision to transition from media to politics and run for city council in his hometown of Stockton, he successfully earned the votes of the people and was elected.
For those wondering, the Hollywood Unlocked CEO, was more than qualified to run for city council. As a Stockton native, he possesses firsthand knowledge of the challenges the community has faced and continues to confront. He dedicated his time, money, energy, and resources to demonstrate to the residents, in a short period, what real change could look like if they elected someone who genuinely cares about them. By focusing on creating a safer environment, expanding opportunities, and fostering hope, he assured the community that he is the right person for the job, and they truly believe in him.

However, this journey was not without its difficulties. While navigating online criticism, contending with other candidates who sought to tarnish his reputation, and addressing a community that felt hesitant about distancing itself from someone like Kimberley Warmsley, Lee faced challenges that he refused to shy away from—and thank goodness he didn’t.
Reflecting on his victory, the media mogul and now political leader expressed his gratitude this Wednesday morning after Election Day, saying, “THANK YOU!!! Deeply honored to have earned the support and trust of my neighbors, the voters of my hometown, and you.”
He went on to add, “Now I begin the work of creating safer and stronger communities, improving our quality of life and charting our next chapter. Heck, forget the next chapter. We will write a whole new book! Stockton – Thank you.”
