The autopsy report states that Lister died from heart disease and tested positive for COVID at the time of his death. However, it also states that he had fluid in his chest with an enlarged heart and high blood pressure, poor blood flow in his legs, and coronary artery disease as reported by TMZ. Last year, the actor was found unresponsive in his home and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Days before his death, Lister was experiencing COVID-related symptoms and appeared to have trouble breathing during a live stream Q&A with fans.

The actor contracted the coronavirus four months before his passing but the symptoms lingered on according to his friend Chris La Vrar. He also was set to film for a new movie and a Zoom appearance but canceled due to the symptoms. His manager said he feared that he caught the disease again and wanted to be one of the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
