French Couple Who Paid Nearly $10K Ordering A Savannah Kitten End Up With A Tiger Cub
A French couple, who paid nearly $10,000 ordering a Savannah cat — a special kitten mixed with an exotic African serval (a wild cat) and a domesticated feline — have actually ended up with a tiger cub.
The unidentified couple from Le Havre told authorities they put out $7,000 for the wild cat, which is legal to keep as a pet in their country. However, when their shipment arrived, they were left in shock, realizing they’d purchased a Sumatran tiger; which is a native to Indonesia and considered a critically endangered species with fewer than 400 in the world.

Following the couple’s discovery, French authorities have since arrested nine people in connection to the tiger, tracing back to an animal trafficking operation. Of those nine, the French couple were included, but have since been discharged. Per a report from the United Press International, the cat is now being looked after by the French Agency for Biodiversity, and subsequent animal trafficking charges are being pursued against the suspects.
