Four Protesters In Louisville Plan Hunger Strike Over Breonna Taylor’s Death

The lack of of arrests in Breonna Taylor’s shooting death has prompted a hunger strike in Louisville, Kentucky.

Demonstration kicked off the strike at noon on Monday, with a livestream on the Facebook page, Hunger Strikers for Breonna. The group of four are vowing to not eat until the officers involved in the deadly incident are charged for fatally shot in March by police officers inside her Louisville apartment.

While speaking about the strike with the Courier Journal, the organizer who goes by Ari said “In this form, we can control it,” adding, “It’s not like a sit-in, where we can be arrested. It’s not like a protest, where there’s a beginning and an end. We control the beginning, the end and the entire narrative.”

As the Daily News notes, the group of four won’t consume anything but vitamin supplements and will only drink water, along with green tea and black coffee, but won’t add cream or even sugar, the news site notes.

As we previously reported, who a Black EMT and an aspiring nurse was asleep in bed with her boyfriend on March 13 when three undercover cops — Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove — busted into her home on a no-knock warrant at around 12:40 a.m. According to records, she was shot a total of five times during the botched narcotics raid. No evidence of drugs were found in her home.
