Four Girls In Pennsylvania Charged After Getting ‘Bored’ & Setting House On Fire
Four teenage girls in Ferndale, Pennsylvania (about 1 hour and 40 minutes east of Pittsburgh) have been arrested and charged after allegedly setting a house on fire, claiming they got “bored.” Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the blaze, but unfortunately for the girls they were busted after uploading footage of the flaming infrastructure to their Snapchats earlier this month.
Subsequently, local law enforcement officials were able to use the pictures and profiles to identify the suspects, a 12-year-old and three 14-year-olds. Upon interrogation, Ferndale Police Chief John Blake says the girls admitted to setting a duplex on fire due to boredom. It’s reported the teens used aerosol sprays, like bug spray and Lysol, to spark the blaze.

Specifically, Chief Blake explains, “They placed a shoebox on the couch and threw lit pieces of paper into the box that had been sprayed with accelerant.” While the girls sustained zero injuries, it’s stated that a police officer was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and a firefighter was also treated for an unknown “medical issue.” The girls have since been released to their parents/guardians with pending cases in juvenile court. They face charges related to arson, causing catastrophe, trespassing and endangering another person. Damages to the house are still being assessed, but a hefty amount of restitution is expected.
