[UPDATE] Founder Of Los Angeles Nonprofit Charged With Murder After Killing 2 Brothers In Violent Hit-And-Run

This past fall, we reported that Rebecca Grossman, the founder of Los Angeles nonprofit Grossman Burn Center, was arrested and released from jail on a $2 million bond after killing 2 brothers in a violent hit-and-run. Now, she’s officially been charged with murder.

On Wednesday (Dec. 30), the 57-yea-old philanthropist plead not guilty to two counts each of murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, plus one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. If convicted as charged, Grossman faces up to 34 years to life in prison.

Back in September, as reported, with her speeding Mercedes, Grossman struck and killed two young brothers, Mark and Jacob Iskander, ages 11 and 8, who were in a crosswalk while on an evening walk with their family. After making contact, Grossman fled the scene, but didn’t get too far, as her white vehicle’s engine broke down a quarter-mile form the crash scene. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officials believed she’d been intoxicated during the incident. Her results are still unknown. If proven she was under the influence of any substances, she could face further charges.
