Former NBA Player Jeremy Lin Blasts Donald Trump Over ‘Chinese Virus’ Remarks

After President Donald Trump referred to the coronavirus as the “Chinese virus,” former New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets player Jeremy Lin is now clapping back at him.

Before clearing up his comment, claiming it’s “Not racist at all [because] it comes from China,” Trump tweeted, “The United States will be powerfully supporting those industries, like Airlines and others, that are particularly affected by the Chinese Virus. We will be stronger than ever before!”

Lin, 31, who was born in Torrance, CA, but is of Taiwanese descent, blasted back, “I wish you would powerfully support the vulnerable people that will suffer due to our mismanagement of this virus, including those that will be affected by the racism you’re empowering.”

In addition to Lin, who’s of Asian descent and has spoken out, actress and model Karrueche, who is of Vietnamese descent, has also taken a stand against those continuing the use of the phrase.

She took to Instagram stories to blast trolls, stating, “Xenophobia is not ok!! To target and [discriminate] Asians is wrong!! There are Asians afraid to leave their homes! There are people who have already been hurt (I know y’all seen the video of the older Asian Man). The coronavirus is not “the Chinese virus”! Let’s stop instilling more fear and hate. The world is struggling enough as it is. Please stop this!!”
