Former NBA All-Star Rajon Rondo has found himself in legal trouble once again, but this time he’s facing gun and drug charges in Indiana.

According to court records obtained by WDRB in Louisville, Kentucky, the former athlete was pulled over for a traffic violation over the weekend. It all happened during following a routine traffic stop. An officer detected the odor of marijuana, prompting a search of Rondo’s car.

The search allegedly revealed a firearm, a personal-use quantity of marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia, as confirmed by Indiana State Police spokesman Stephen Wheeles. As a result of the officer’s alleged findings, he was then taken into police custody. However, following his arrest , Rondo promptly posted bail and was released.

His attorney has yet to comment on the matter, leaving uncertainty regarding his arraignment date.

Rajon Rondo’s Previous Legal Troubles:

This recent arrest is not the first time Rondo has found himself entangled in legal issues. Back in May 2022, the mother of his children was granted temporary custody and an emergency protective order after Rondo allegedly brandished a gun at their Louisville home.

At the time, the victim described Rondo’s behavior as “enraged and violent,” with threats of harm. Despite these allegations, the initial emergency protective order was dismissed in June 2022. However, a new order was filed against Rondo in March 2023, only to be dismissed in August 2023. Notably, the NBA did not impose any punishment on Rondo for this incident, although he has not played since then.

More On Rondo’s Basketball Career:

Rajon Rondo, selected as the No. 21 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, enjoyed a successful career in professional basketball. Throughout his 16 seasons in the league, he played for several teams, including the Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Rondo’s accomplishments include winning two NBA championships (2008 with the Celtics and 2020 with the Lakers), earning four All-Star selections, one All-NBA team nod, and four All-Defensive team honors.

The arrest of Rondo comes just a month after another athlete, Chance Comanche, former player with the NBA G League’s Stockton Kings, was arrested for a horrific crime.

As we previously reported, Comanche and his girlfriend were charged in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a missing woman whose remains were found in a desert near Las Vegas — a crime that he eventually confessed to.
