Former NBA All-Star And ‘Survivor’ Contestant, Cliff Robinson Dies At 53

Former Portland Trail Blazers star Cliff Robinson has passed away. According to Bleacher Report, the news was announced by the University of Connecticut, his alma mater.

“The UConn Basketball family mourns the loss of a legendary player and person, Clifford Robinson. Our thoughts and prayers are with Cliff’s family at this difficult time 🙏Rest In Peace, Cliff,” the Saturday statement read. WGRZ reporter Claudine Ewing also tweeted that the family confirmed his passing, but bo further details were shared. As of right now, the cause of death is also not known.

Robinson accomplished a lot during his career. Not only did he help UConn win the 1988 NIT title but he also became a second-round draft pick of the Portland Trail Blazers in 1989 while playing eight years for the franchise, helping it reach the NBA finals in 1990 and 1992. Robinson was also the first NBA player to appear on the television show Survivor.

The sad news of Robinson’s passing comes as people around the world were rocked by the news of Chadwick Boseman’s death. He died on Friday following a four-year-long battle with colon cancer. The “Black Panther” star was just 43 years old.
