During an interview with the morning talk show Sunrise, Hedda Muskat described her experience while working with the comedienne. In 2003, Muskat’s position was booking non-celebrities for the show’s human interest segments as a producer and added that viewers most likely felt like have been fooled into liking DeGeneres after learning about the behind scenes issues that took place.

‘The viewers have spoken. Her ratings have been in the toilet for a long, long time now, her show has not been fun, it has not been interesting. I think the viewers are disappointed in the phoniness she’s been projecting as this “nice person”. So I feel that the viewers feel duped, in a way, that she’s not this nice person. The viewers are not going to put up with the backstage racism that goes on in the backstage bullying that goes on. So I think the viewers have woken up, finally.’

Muskat added how the former talk show host preferred to interview A-list celebrities instead of “everyday people” since she was able to relate to them. As reported by the Daily Mail, DeGeneres is scheduled to be interviewed by Oprah to discuss the shows ending but Muskat says it’s a new low for the legendary host.

‘I am very disappointed that Oprah is lowering herself to interview Ellen. Oprah can interview kings and queens and I watch and love Oprah and I miss her and for her to interview Ellen, it’s like why? Who cares about Ellen anymore?’
