Former ‘ANTM’ Contestant Lisa D’Amato Blasts Tyra Banks & Crew For Weaponizing Her Childhood Trauma On Set
As of late, Tyra Banks has been trending on social media for her alleged verbal abuse and physical abuse she placed upon contestants on her hit modeling show, ‘America’s Next Top Model (ANTM).’ Now, a former contestant, Lisa D’Amato is coming forward and blasting Banks and production for weaponizing her childhood trauma (sexual, physical and mental abuse) while filming.
Responding to the backlash last May, Tyra tweeted, “Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you. Looking back, those were some really off choices. Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs. ❤️” Firing back, D’Amato, a season five contestant, uploaded a seven-minute Instagram video detailing her experience on the show.

Now, D’Amato’s recent video begins with her saying, “This message is for Tyra Banks,” and her going to recall participating in an E! True Hollywood show, where she detailed mistreatment on ANTM — which was contractually forbidden for past contestants to do. She adds, “I did [the show] knowing that it was a breach of contract, still, because I felt like it was my duty to warn other girls that were going to audition for America’s Next Top Model to know that what you guys do — and the way that you guys would poke me and use my childhood trauma against me, day in and day out.”
