Ford Moves New Bronco Debut Date That Originally Landed On O.J. Simpson’s Birthday
For the first time since 1996, Ford is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated new Bronco SUV. However, the motor company is now delaying the unveiling, which they originally had slated to debut on O.J. Simpson‘s 73rd birthday, July 9. They confirm the new reveal date for the 2021 Bronco is now July 13.
After the company tweeted, “07/09/20. The Wild Returns. #FordBronco #BuiltWild,” multiple social media users brought it to their attention what also landed on that date. Subsequently, they replied, “The reveal of the all-new Bronco lineup will now happen on Monday, July 13. This is instead of July 9. We are sensitive and respectful to some concerns raised previously about the date, which was purely coincidental.”

For those who need a refresher or might not understand the connection between the Ford Bronco and O.J. Simpson, we’ve got you covered. In 1994, Simpson was charged in the double murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman — he was later acquitted. However, while trying to evade arrest, Simpson and his friend, who was driving, took police on a slow speed chase in a 1993 white Bronco, which was broadcast on local and cable networks. The white Bronco was then solidified in pop culture history.

In addition to Ford’s official Twitter updating the reveal date, Communications Chief Mark Truby also tweeted, “UPDATE: The reveal of the all-new Ford Bronco lineup will now happen on Monday, July 13. The previous targeted date of July 9 unintentionally coincided with O.J. Simpson’s birthday. We wanted to be sensitive and respectful of this concern.”
