Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Passes Away At 50, Drugs Found In His System

Taylor Hawkins, known as the drummer for Foo Fighters, has passed away at the age of 50. Investigators reported drugs were found in his system at the time of his death.

The drummer was found dead in his hotel room on Friday in Bogota, Colombia and authorities said drugs were in his system. According to TMZ, a toxicology report from Hawkins’ urine revealed his system had ten different substances which include opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, and benzodiazepines. However, the cause of death is unknown since the investigation is ongoing. Before his untimely death, Foo Fighters were in the country for multiple shows and scheduled to headline Lollapalooza Brazil on Sunday.

In the following statement, the band wrote, “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family.”

Back in 2001, Hawkins survived a heroin overdose and was open about his issues with substance abuse.

Hawkins also played drummer for Alanis Morrisette and also started his own band called Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. He is survived by his wife Alison and their three children, Alison, Oliver Shane, and Everleigh.
